Adopt Me

Albert is a lovely neutered male cat that came to NASAP from Beaumont Pound. When we first met him, he was a complete mess and had obviously been through some serious hardships for some time. He was skin and bones and was covered in abcessed puncture wounds. He also had some type of thermal injury to most of his back and hind legs. He was also terribly matted. He received vet care for his wounds and supportive care at the pound. Surprisingly, his bloodwork and urinalysis did not show up any major health problems. He is gaining weight and growing his beautiful glossy coat back now that he's just receiving regular and nutritious meals. He will require regular brushing in his new home to keep his coat beautiful. Albert will be receiving a dental cleaning and continuing to recover from his ordeal in foster care for the next few weeks, but he would love to meet potential adopters immediately. He is friendly, outgoing, talkative, adaptable and very sweet. He just wants to be petted and loved. Albert is available for a special reduded senior cat adoption fee. Please inquire about adopting him. He is a very special cat and so deserving of a loving forever home.

ADOPTION PENDING

Charm is a beautiful, petite orange and white mother cat that was found in a garbage bin at a construction site in Leduc with her 4 newborn kittens. Two are little calicos and two are orange. Please watch the kittens page for their pictures. They will be available for adoption in approx. 7 more weeks. Charm is a lovely girl. She is so happy to be inside and to have access to nutritious food to help her feed her family. Charm will be spayed and vaccinated once her kittens have been weaned and then she will be looking for a wonderful indoor only home where she can just relax and enjoy a carefree life.

Foster home update (July 18, 2010): Just to let you know that Charm has settled in EXTREMELY well!    She looks like the cat that got the cream whenever I go in to see her - lying there with a full tummy letting her babies suckle!    She is using her litter tray like a good girl and eating well.     She is happy to be petted and allows her babies to be handled no problem.    This has been somebody's cat - no sign at all of her being wild or not used to people.

Update July 24, 2010: Poor Charm is suffering from a severe case of mastitis (infected mammary tissue). She is too painful to feed her kittens and therefore they are being hand fed by a wonderful volunteer animal health technologist (THANK YOU!). Charm will require emergency IV fluids, antiobiotics and pain medication to help her beat this infection. Her treatment will be costly. If you are able to make a targeted donation towards Charm's care NASAP would deeply appreciate your help. Once she has recovered, Charm will be spayed and adopted into a wonderful home. This little cat and her family have been through so much already, please help NASAP get her the lifesaving treatment she needs. Thank you!

Update July 28, 2010: Charm is doing much better. Her abcessed gland was lanced and drained at the vet clinic yesterday She has responded well to the intensive antibiotics and fluid therapy and she no longer has a fever. She is eating well and is very happy and sociable. It is hoped now that she will make a full recovery. Her kittens are still being hand fed and seem to be adjusting well to the bottle. We are optimistic that they will also all pull through. NASAP sincerely thanks everyone who helped with this young mother and her litter through this difficult ordeal, especially the staff at Beaumont Leduc Animal Clinic and Calgary Trail Pet Hospital.

Jeremiah is an approximately 1 yr old, neutered, orange tabby and white male who showed up as a stray at an acreage.  He is a very personable fellow;  he is very affectionate and he loves to talk as well.  He has been very gentle with his foster parents. So far he doesn't seem to be too concerned when he sees our dogs so at this point we thiink he will do okay in a home with dogs. Jeremiah must go to a home where he is the only cat as he does not care for feline friends. Please inquire about adopting Jeremiah!
