ADOPTION PENDING

Titan is exactly that - a titan of a dog. Don't worry though, he's a gentle giant! He is a 2 year old blue Great Dane that was very well loved in his previous life, but was surrendered to NASAP due to an unfortunate change in life circumstances.

Titan is a sweet boy, and true to his breed, a big goofball. He gets along well with dogs, cats, and people of all ages - although given his size may not be suited to live with very small children. He enjoys walks and generally is good on the leash but can pull if he gets excited. He enjoys a good game of tug or keep-away, and will need a home that can give him the exercise and attention he needs to continue to flourish. He doesn't jump up - although given how tall he is, he hardly needs to. He can be a bit vocal in the house, alerting to strangers passing by or loud noises, so this will need to be worked on in his new family. He has completed puppy classes and knows his basic obedience.

He can be a bit of a nervous guy in new situations and needs a family that will continue to help him work on his confidence. He is still settling in to his foster home and we should get to know him better as he adjusts.

In the summer of 2016 Titan suffered from bloat/partial torsion of his stomach, a very common medical condition in growing Great Danes. He underwent emergency surgery (gastropexy) to correct this, and it isn't anticipated he will experience this again, however, it is something to be monitored closely. He has mild to moderate acne on his nose but this is easily controlled be being kept clean and dry. He has some food sensitivity to chicken products so should remain on a healthy diet of novel proteins. Otherwise, Titan is currently in good health, is vaccinated, microchipped, neutered, and ready for a new lease on life!

**Please Note** Great Danes are giant breed dogs with specialty medical and behavioural needs that need to be considered carefully prior to adoption. We will be accepting applications from potential adopters that can demonstrate strong knowledge/experience with this breed's ongoing needs, as well as the financial and social stability to care for Titan for the rest of his days. He has an active pet insurance policy with Trupanion that costs approximately $240 per month, and adopters will be given the choice to continue this coverage in order to ensure ongoing care for Titan is provided without concern. Potential adopters will be asked to review and sign a waiver indicating they understand the potential future costs of owning a giant breed dog, will accept Titan as a rescue dog, and as with all rescue animals, without any guarantee of health history, breed, or behaviour.
