Boonie Image

We adopted Boonie in September of 2006. He is just over 2 years old now and we were the fifth family he had lived with in his short life, including the great volunteer families FROM NASAP that fostered him, so he had been bounced around. He was unsure and tentative about nearly everything at the beginning. He is scared of fireworks and thunder, and the first week he was at our house there were thunderstorms almost every night so it wasnt a great start. But we slowly built up his routine over the following few weeks, which include going to a doggie daycare (Divine K9) twice a week where he loves playing with the other dogs and spending time with Auntie. Boonie also did well in his basic obedience class, finishing first in his class (of two). Now he is a curious, affectionate little guy who has come completely out of his shell. Fear and caution have almost completely left him (except with the thunder!) and he is loving, playful, and goofy and keeps us laughing every day. This picture is of Boonie signing his moms birthday card his handwriting is coming along nicely. Weve only had Boonie around for about 6 months, but we cant imagine our family without him. Kai Image

This is to thank Mary and her husband, who fostered Kai (formerly Kye) once again, and to assure them that Kai is thriving. Needless to say, he is still the exceptionally fine animal that they knew. He fit in with the family, including the cats, perfectly and immediately, and is treasured by everyone who has come to know him. He got off to a rough start--diagnosed with a malignant mast cell tumour at the end of the first month with us. He endured 2 surgeries and light chemo with grace, and was soon completely well. He will always be monitored, but is expected to remain healthy. Nothing has dimmed his joyfulness and energy. He is exceptionally intelligent, and has conquered the tendency of his body to race before his mind at the sight of wildlife or cattle. (Not so with squirrels or hares though! He is watching a squirrel in the photo.). We could not have found a more welcome dog.

Chase Image

We are so happy with Chase and he seems happy withus. He has met the entire family and gets along well with everyone. Our 5 lb house cat (thinks she's a black panther) delights in starting hide and go seek games with him, and he plays so gently with her. The rest of the dogs are pleased about HAVING a new brother. Thank you for taking such very good care of him. P.S. There is supposed to be a caption above the picture of him, Dexter and Boyd on the couch. "Sunday tv is sure boring!" So far this seems to be his only complaint. Since he enjoys the cat toys so much, we got him some of his very own.

Miss Elle

Miss Elle Image

Hi. I would like to give an UPDATE on Miss Elle (Missy), one of Teagan's pups that we adopted in May. She has been a great addition to our family. We live on a farm, and that gives her lots of room to run around and burn off some of that energy she has! She has such a happy, loving personality with a soft gentle nature, and gets along great with our other dog and all the cats. She loves people and is happiest when they are paying attention to her, especially if they are rubbing her belly!! Missy is very smart and learns very quickly, and she listens very well, especially for a young dog. She really is a sweetheart and we are lucky to have picked her ( with Genevieve's help - thank you). Also a big thank you to NASAP and all the volunteers who take these animals INTO their homes till they are adopted, allowing them to have a second chance at a wonderful life.

Kirby Image

Just wanted to give you an UPDATE on Kirby, the Golden Lab we adopted FROM you in September. Kirby is doing great! Ive never seen a happier dog. He is constantly running around and playing, whether its with the other dogs in the family or with the abundant amount of toys he has. His favorite is a stuffed pink bunny. He doesnt like to share this one. Kirby just cant seem to get enough love and there is plenty to give him. He loves to sleep on the bed right between us, and he SNORES!!!!! Its hilarious! He truly is a great dog, we couldnt have asked for more. We are really blessed with him. Thank you so much! Thank you, Courtney Hill

Paisley Image

Paisley was adopted in February of 2005 after being fostered with her two sisters. She has turned INTO one of the most talkative and a curious cats, the world has ever seen. (And as you can tell by this photo, she really is a poser, she loves a camera!) Paisley's days are mainly spent chasing and playing with her two buddies, Kopi & Kyrra (2 Siberian huskies). Although she loved Edmonton, she has settled well in Calgary. :)

Gigi Image

Gigi is a very lucky girl and has gone to live with a family who has other springers for her to hang out with. They really weren't planning on adopting another springer but when they saw Gigi they fell in love and thought she was a perfect match so took her home!

Bambi Image

Hi there! I thought I would let everyone at Nasap (especially Nikki and family) about how I am doing since I was adopted in October 2006. I came home to two new animal friends: cats! I don't remember ever living with cats before, but they're alright. One of my new feline brothers was very unhappy with my arrival, but since then he has adapted and now he doesn't mind me at all (unless I get a little too close....). I also get to play with my very own little boy! He's especially fun to be around when he's eating, since he's just 18 months old, and likes to DROP the occasional piece of food for me. I adjusted to my new home immediately, which was great. My adoptive mom lets me sleep on the bed and the couch, but only when my adoptive dad isn't around (then I have to sleep on my own bed). I stopped taking eye drops shortly after I came to my new home. The vet says that everything looks fine, but that I am mostly blind in my right eye, and will probably remain that way. Ah well.....I have one super-seeing left eye! Everything has been going great. Except that I am extremely camera shy! As soon as I see that camera come out, I run as fast as I can and hide! My mom keeps hoping to get a good picture of me, but I am too fast for her! She had to take this picture really far away FROM me, so I wouldn't really notice. I am HAVING a great time here, and have a nice big yard to run around in, cats to torment, and a little boy to play with. And lots of other people who come visit me too! I'll try to give another UPDATE in the future (if my mom can ever get a good picture of me!). Love, Bambi
