Usher and Dido

Usher and Dido Image

Hello, just wanted to give you an UPDATE on Usher and Dido, now named Raffi and Dakota. We fell in love with both of them at first sight and decided to keep them together. They play and play all day long. They love to run and dig up as many holes as they can, and they will fetch balls for short periods of time before getting distracted with something else. They play well with other dogs but not so much with cats. We also ran INTO a litter mate, Kira, at Pets in the Park on June 25. Raffi and Dakota are both graduates of PetSmart's puppy school. Dakota was very timid when we first brought her home but now she is very social with other dogs as well as humans. Both puppies are doing extremely well and we could not be happier.

Eddie

Hi NASAP Last fall I adopted Eddie, the wonder dog. He settled in very quickly even though to this day my 14 year old male cat dominates his house world. Eddie has been a complete joy. He gets to come to work a couple of times a week with me. There he will wander around and visit, then find himself a spot on the carpet with the warm sun beaming down. Twice daily walks and or trips to the off leash park keeps his Jack Russell character very manageable. I have never known a happier dog. He smiles the day away and makes mine brighter. Thank you NASAP for all that you do. Elizabeth M.

Gizmo

Hello there... We just wanted to give you an UPDATE on our Gizmo. We adopted him three years ago and he has been an amazing fit to our home, we really couldn't have asked for a better cat! Gizmo is a travelling cat, he loves to make frequent trips in the jeep with us to visit our families. Giz's favorite thing to do is sleep..he is very good at it! He is the best cat in the world and is very spoiled. We love NASAP and all that it does for animals. Thanks for helping us find the cat of our dreams! Katie and Rob.

Roy

Roy Image

Roy is a dream come true. He is affectionate without being demanding and adventurous without being destructive. He keeps me company when I need it and does his own thing when I am busy. He makes us laugh with his antics and in the morning he likes to curl right up to you and purr. Roy greets everyone that comes over and is loving and gentle with my 1 year old nephew when he comes to visit. He did make it clear that he didnt think life was worth living if he couldnt go outside at least a little each day, so after much pleading he is now allowed out for a bit when I get home FROM work, but when I call him in he comes running full-speed FROM wherever he was exploring right INTO the house and appears delighted to have his company requested. I am so pleased to have him in my life that I have been volunteering with NASAP and fostering and Roy has been a good foster brother. Roy was abandoned at a skihill in winter and while I cant imagine how anyone could have parted with him I am very happy that we found each other!

Gunner

Hi Cheryl & Walt & NASAP, Well it has been just over two months since we adopted our big hunka love - Gunner! And what a smart decision it was for us that I CHECK the site first thing every morning and that morning, there he was and I called immediately and left a message for the foster parents to call us. Later we learned that we were the first of at least nine calls for him. Cheryl & Walt were kind enough to bring Gunner to our home so that he could meet our crew - 2 large female dogs and 5 cats. Well he just walked past the cats and checked out the girls and I'm sure he thought to himself that in short ORDER he would have them swooning over him. And who wouldn't swoon over such a handsome, intelligent dude? Well 2 days later, on Good Friday, they brought him back to stay. We were so excited to get Gunner. In many ways he is alot like our beloved Kayla who died FROM cancer in March but in the next breath, he is unlike any other dog I have ever had. Probably because he is the first male dog I have ever had and he is a typiical boy - strong, determined, loves to play ball & Frisbee, is a big mush, loves to kiss - us,the girls and the cats. He loves to play ball so much that on Easter Sunday, he completely tuckered out all 15 people that were at our home. It was then that we realized, with some horror, that we didn't find out where his "Off" switch was until quite by accident, I told him that I would throw just one more ball and then "Enough". That was it, the "Off" switch. He just wheels around and lies down and chews on the ball. Gunner has taught us a variety of games such as high ball, bouncy ball, bowling ball, to name a few. Of course they are his games so we abide by his rules. What an incredibly intelligent, affectionate dog. He looks right INTO our eyes with such love and understanding. Gunner loves his walks with his sisters, Roxie & Harlee and has captured my friend's heart as well since her & I take the 3 out together. What can I say. We feel so blessed to have our boy and to watch him play, you would never guess that he is about to celebrate his 8th birthday. We feel as though we have always had him which is a great testament to folks out there who will only consider adopting a puppy. Gunner is our puppy and we love him to pieces. Thank you to all of you at NASAP for your great work. Bryant, Colleen, Gunner, Roxie, Harlee, Tiggy, BooDee, Magic, Lolei and Oven Mitt

Molly

Molly Image

Hello Genevieve & NASAP, Just wanted to send an UPDATE on Arabesque, now Molly, who we adopted May 19th.We are really enjoying HAVING Molly in our lives. Even my husband, who was lukewarm to the idea of getting a dog, loves her! In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if she ends up being his dog. He has even been known to take Molly on his rounds at the farm! Molly enjoys playing with our 3 kids outside and shows a great disposition with them. She really enjoys chasing and pushing a soccer ball around, which is really funny to watch! I hope she keeps this trick up as she gets older. She will also chase a tennis ball or Frisbee, but hasnt quite got the hang of bringing them back yet! Molly is very interested in making friends with our cat, Max, but so far Max is not being very cooperative, which frustrates Molly, who only wants to play. Molly is learning how to go to the bushes for her bathroom breaks and enjoys going for walks on her leash. We are working on stopping her FROM jumping and nipping at peoples heels/clothes; she just gets too excited and wants to play with everyone! At night, Molly goes in her kennel and does not whine or complain about that at all. She seems very secure in there and does not have any accidents overnight. Molly has added a lot of life to our yard and it is great to see the kids get home and greet her. She seems to make them want to go outside a lot more just so they can play with her, which is great for the 2 boys (ages 8 & 10) who were beginning to SHOW too much interest in TV! Our 4 year old daughters favorite thing is to give Molly her treats. Molly has had a spacious chain-link pen built for her, which is important as we live on a secondary highway. It was interesting to see my farm-boy husband, whose attitude usually is dogs dont belong in a pen, build the enclosure for her within a week of her being home. She does not actually spend much time in it, as she prefers to remain close to the house, and (so far) does not wander. However, It is reassuring to have a spot for her to go when there is no one home. The times when she has been left in the pen, she has been fine. The funniest thing about Molly is her ears. When I picked her up FROM NASAP as a puppy, she had these adorable little floppy ears. Within 10 days of being home, those ears migrated to the top of her head and now stick straight up! I cant get over the change! Her legs are also growing a mile a minute while her head and body seem to stay the same size. Everybody looks at her and wonders how tall she is going to get. She is all legs and ears right now! I am attaching a photo, but boy, was it hard to take a picture of her. She never stands still! I have 2 more weeks of teaching and then I am home indefinitely as we will be HAVING an addition to the family in the fall. I am looking forward to spending lots of time in the yard with Molly and the kids. I know that as she gets older and develops her manners she will add a lot of fun to our lives. We are all looking forward to taking her camping with us! Thanks for the opportunity to adopt Molly! Michelle Ozipko and family
