Chica 2Chica 3

My name is Chica, which in Spanish means girl. I grew up with my original owner until I was almost 4 years old, but he moved away and couldn't take me or my friend Barnaby so we were surrenderd to NASAP 7 months ago. Barnaby quickly found his forever home. I was adopted to a family with a very busy household but I just could not tolerate the two small children and two dogs. We know now that I require a more relaxed and quiet adult-only home or with older teenagers. I could likely companion another friendly mature cat, but I would also do very well as an only pet. I have a couple of issues relating to my health that will need to be monitored in my new home as well. My kidneys don't work as well as they should. The vets could not determine why when they performed blood testing and an ultrasound. I might have damaged them by ingesting a toxin in my past, or the degeneration might be just be due to aging. Either way, I definitely need access to fresh water at all times, a special wet food diet that is available at any vet clinic as well as some medication that goes in my food. These preventive measures should help me live a long and happy life.

I am at least 5 years old now.  I have long-hair that is orange, black and brown with tabby markings.  My fur requires regular brushing, but it is a pleasure for both myself and the person doing the brushing because I LOVE it so much! I'm a very curious girl who likes to follow people around and I love to soak up the attention I can get. I am very much a lap cat and I like to stare up at you lovingly when you pay attention to me.  I really enjoy having company and I'm especially happy when I can curl up with you to sleep. My treatments and care have been costly so if you can help NASAP by providing a targeted donation towards my care, it would be very much appreciated. If you are looking for a special friend, please contact NASAP about adopting me. I look forward to meeting you very soon!
