Cider

Cider is a wonderful companion dog who came into care in September 2008.  After spending some time in his foster home she noticed that he had a slightly droopy eye. Upon further inspection at the vet clinic it was soon discovered that he had a cyst deep inside his inner ear that is quite large. It is the cause of Cider's Horner's Syndrome which shows in his slightly droopy eye with a slight facial droop as well.  The surgery to remove the cyst is expensive and rather invasive with no guarantee that the cyst will not recurr.  At this time Nasap has decided to forgo the surgery in hopes that the cyst will not continue grow. However, if it does grow then we may have to look at that option again.

 

What we are hoping for with Cider is that he can find a forever home that will accept him as is with the knowledge that he may require an expensive surgery down the road and/or someone who will let him live out his life with lots of love and comfort.  He is an easy, gentle natured, boy who will win your heart if you give him the chance.      

Cider is a wonderfully friendly happy dog. He knows his basic commands and is happiest when he is carrying something in his mouth. If he is allowed to carry something in this way he will prance along so proudly beside you when being walked on a leash. Cider is housetrained and well behaved indoors. He is good with other dogs though he does not really play with them and prefers to be with people. Cider wants and needs to be an indoor dog and lavished with as much attention as possible! He is not aggressive towards cats though his size and his sniff first ask questions later approach might freak some cats out! Cider has been around children without a problem and though he was not raised in a household where children were constantly present he seems to quite enjoy their company. Cider does require a certain amount exercise as he is still a lab and can be playful but he settles down well after a long walk with his family. He is full of character and if you like labs you will love Cider!!
