Duncan

Duncan 2Duncan 1

Duncan is a beautiful young (1 year old) male Himalayan X that recently came into NASAP’s care from Black Gold Pound. Duncan has a beautiful coat and a huge, thick tail that looks just like a feather duster. He also has a great, funny personality. He likes to gently bat your leg with his paw to let you know that he is down there and in need of some attention.  When Duncan went in to the vet clinic for a routine neuter, it was determined that he is suffering from bilateral juvenile cataracts, making his eyes hazy and significantly affecting his eyesight. The vet also commented that she had never seen such a high heart rate in a cat. Duncan underwent an immediate electrocardiogram, and no abnormalities were noted other than the extremely fast beating of his heart. Duncan required further testing (an ultrasound and X-rays) to help diagnose the cause of his elevated heart rate. Duncan's heart is unusually thickened on one side. The reason for his health problems is unknown but it may be congenital. His neuter was recently completed using an epidural and sedation because it was too dangerous to put him under using a general anesthetic. We are very grateful that we found Duncan so that he can receive the care he needs. NASAP would deeply appreciate  donations targeted towards Duncan’s medical care, which has been quite costly. Please help us provide medical care for Duncan so that he can remain comfortable and as healthy as possible in his loving permanent care foster home for the rest of his life.
