Cocoa was left in a crate with her two 6 month old kittens (Barclay and Silver) outside the gate of one of our partner pounds in mid-February. NASAP quickly took them into care, vaccinated them and placed them in a quarantine foster home with the hope of eventually finding them wonderful new homes. Unfortunately, Cocoa became very ill shortly after intake. While it was initially thought that she might have feline distemper, it has been tough to arrive at a definitive diagnosis. The vets now believe that the stress of being abandoned caused an overgrowth of Clostridium bacteria in her gut. Cocoa required emergency supportive care including IV fluids, anti-nausea drugs, antibiotics and pain killers. Her emergency vet care has been extremely costly and NASAP is asking for targeted donations to help cover the cost of her care. Cocoa is a beautiful and loving young cat that truly deserves a second chance to have a happy and healthy life with responsible new owners. Please, please donate what you can to help Cocoa.
